Challenge
Russell Sage College has been a long-term partner of Toshiba, utilizing MFP copiers and Managed Print Services. As the college approached its lease renewal, the Toshiba Managed Print Team assessed the existing print environment and identified several challenges:
• Russell Sage College required a reduction in on campus equipment due to a decrease in student enrollment and the impacts of the COVID pandemic.
• The current fleet, consisting of various devices, posed challenges for the small IT team in managing drivers, end-user access, and supply storage.
• The existing volume allowances were not in alignment with the campus’s evolving needs.
Solution
A thorough onsite walkthrough and a review of historical print volumes from the past five years led to key improvements:
Standardized MFPs: All Toshiba devices were configured with the same features for a consistent user experience.
Optimized Fleet: The number of devices on campus was reduced from 108 to 90, improving efficiency without sacrificing accessibility.
Enhanced Security: Devices were equipped with card readers to enable end-user authentication powered by PaperCut software.
Sustainability Support: The college implemented the PrintReleaf Reforestation Program, reinforcing its commitment to environmental initiatives.
Result
With Toshiba’s solutions, Russell Sage College achieved a 23% reduction in average monthly print costs, leading to a total lease savings of over $206,000.
