Grateful
November is replete with some of the year’s most impactful observances and celebrations when it comes to giving thanks and showing our gratitude. Of course, Thanksgiving might be most notable; a day set aside for all of us to reflect on everything we are grateful for in our lives.
November is also the month where we recognize and give special thanks to those who have served and serve in our military forces: Veterans Day falls on Saturday, Nov 11 this year. This is also the month when we honor the sacrifice and support of military families. Every November, the Defense Department and the military community celebrate military families and transitioning veterans during National Veterans and Military Families Month.
The Hiring our Heroes program through the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation states “On average, military families move to a new location every two to three years. This is 2.4 times more often than civilian families. Military spouses move across state lines 10 times more frequently than their civilian counterparts.”
Aside from frequent moves, military families face many challenges including demanding deployments, and for the entire month of November we honor their countless contributions.
Toshiba is proud to have recently joined the ranks as a Military Spouse Employment Partner (MSEP) with the Department of Defense (DoD), under their Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) Program. As a partner, Toshiba is committed to supporting our military forces by connecting military spouses with career opportunities at Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS).
I have had a long and rewarding career here at Toshiba and am truly grateful for the opportunities offered during my tenure. I am grateful to work with some of the most incredible people I have ever known, and as a military veteran spouse I am beyond proud and grateful to work for a company whose leadership has made it a priority to support military spouses and their families with career opportunities within our incredible TEAM!
This month, and hopefully all year, let us keep the spirit of gratitude at the forefront of everything we do as it fuels positivity and motivates us to do more good wherever and whenever we can.
