e-BRIDGE® Global Print uses modern OAUTH2 standards to log users in via one of Toshiba’s supported third-party authentication providers (e.g., Microsoft® identity platform, Google Identity). This means that when a user signs in, they are authenticated with their identity provider. After successful authentication, they are re-directed back to e-BRIDGE® Global Print. This means that the username and password are not stored in e-BRIDGE® Global Print but instead managed by Google/Microsoft®.
When an account is first created, e-BRIDGE® Global Print will set the domain for a customer based on the first customer admin user’s email address. Multiple domains may be enabled for the same customer account (e.g., domain1.com and domain2.com); however, it’s strongly recommended to add the domain you currently own.
ADDING NEW USERS AUTOMATICALLY
When a user logs into e-BRIDGE® Global Print, whether through one of our apps or the web portal, the user’s customer is determined based on the domain name in the user’s email. Upon successful authentication by the identity provider, the user is automatically added to that customer account as a user. Admins do not need to sync users or manually bring them all in; it is all managed through the user’s email domain.
ADDING NEW USERS MANUALLY
If you’re a customer admin and you would like to manually add users, or if you need to edit the settings of a particular user, you can do this via the Users tab in the web portal. You can create additional administrators for your account as well.
When the MFP is set up in CloudMDS mode, all completed print, scan, copy, and fax events that happen on the device are tracked. The device collects the event details and sends it to e-BRIDGE® Global Print cloud after the job is completed. Customer admins can log into the e-BRIDGE® Global Print cloud portal and download these reporting events for their users and devices in CSV file format.
If a user or device is deleted from e-BRIDGE® Global Print, the reporting events for that user or device are not deleted. Instead, they are anonymized and kept in the database. This way, you can adhere to data privacy protocols without sacrificing the accuracy of our reporting data.
Please note that search and filter mechanisms will be added to these reports in the future. In addition, there are plans to integrate with other popular integration platforms.
As a multi-tenant, cloud-based application, e-BRIDGE® Global Print’s servers are hosted on the Microsoft® Azure® platform and Amazon Web Services™ storage. Customer data is processed by these servers, and in many cases, user print data is stored on these servers.
User data: When users are created, their account information is stored in the e-BRIDGE® Global Print server in the cloud. This information includes the email, PIN, and other identifying fields. Wherever possible, this data is hashed and salted for protection. Please note that user password is not stored in the e-BRIDGE® Global Print server because authentication is done via identity provider (Microsoft or Google).
Usage data: e-BRIDGE® Global Print can track device events in CloudMDS mode. In this mode, all device activities are tracked and sent to the e-BRIDGE® Global Print cloud server. These activities include where, when, and what a user did at the MFP.
Device data: Each device that is configured with e-BRIDGE® Global Print has a corresponding record in the e-BRIDGE® Global Print database and is programmatically associated with the customer the device belongs to. Information about the device, such as name, serial number, and model, are stored in the e-BRIDGE® Global Print cloud.
Print jobs: When you submit a print job to the print queue, it is uploaded directly to Toshiba’s cloud. The job stays in the cloud until the user releases it at the MFP or deletes it by logging into the portal. If a job is not printed within 72 hours, it is deleted automatically.
e-BRIDGE® Global Print architecture is designed around direct cloud connections between both devices and users who need to print. This architecture allows for unlimited users and devices. New users, devices and locations are simple to add as your organization grows.
e-BRIDGE® Global Print is an app designed to support Toshiba and Lexmark devices only. The eGP supported devices list is posted in the FAQ. If you have other devices in the fleet that are not listed in the supported devices list, please speak to your sales representative about other options we sell and support.
e-BRIDGE® Global Print has been designed to use the Toshiba print driver, allowing users to apply print settings when they submit the job to the cloud queue. When a print job is released, the print settings will be applied if they are available on the machine where they release the job.
e-BRIDGE® Global Print is a cloud-based app managed by Toshiba. The application is hosted on Microsoft® Azure® and Amazon S3™ storage. There is no need for an end customer to install software anywhere on premises or in a private cloud environment. The users for customers currently using Google or Microsoft 365® Cloud are automatically authenticated. There is no need to create or sync your current users.
Updates are automatic and new features will be added as they are developed.
Tips and tricks
The e-BRIDGE® Global Print desktop application keeps a mapping between the local user of the Mac or PC or Chromebook and the e-BRIDGE® Global Print user account; therefore, if you’re signed into your computer as the user “Bobby”, and when you first print and register yourself your Microsoft® or Google® username is email@example.com, then these two accounts will be associated together on your computer. Whenever you are logged into your desktop as “Bobby”, print jobs you submit will automatically be uploaded using the e-BRIDGE® Global Print credentials that are stored for firstname.lastname@example.org.
This means that multiple users can share the same Mac or PC or Chromebook and keep their own private e-BRIDGE® Global Print accounts. However, users must use their own personal credentials to log into the computer. If multiple users share the same computer, and they all use the basic “Admin” user, their print jobs will all be uploaded to the same e-BRIDGE® Global Print user’s account.
e-BRIDGE® Global Print uses modern OAUTH2 standards to log in users via one of our supported third-party authentication providers (e.g., Microsoft® identity platform, Google Identity). This means that when a user signs in, they are re-directed to the identity provider to validate the sign-in credentials, and then are re-directed back to e-BRIDGE® Global Print.
This means that if multi-factor authentication is enabled for a user in the third-party authentication provider, the user will need to follow the normal steps to complete each authentication.
e-BRIDGE® Global Print PIN Login
Most end users authenticate at the MFP panel using a Personal Identification Number (PIN). This six-digit number is also used to register proximity badges. All users that are created in the e-BRIDGE® Global Print cloud, either by an admin or automatically using domain matching, are given a PIN.
Generating a New PIN
All users can view their current PIN in the “My Settings” tab of the e-BRIDGE® Global Print cloud. Clicking the “Refresh” button will delete the old PIN and generate a new, random one for the user. Toshiba ensures that each PIN is unique within the same company account.
