How to quickly configure Smartcard authentication
Using smartcards to access ESPM-enabled MFDs enhances security by ensuring that only authorized users can access the device. ESPM smartcard support enables precise tracking of printing activity and improves convenience with quick logins and seamless integration with ESPM authentication systems.
Prerequisite understanding: The administrator should have familiarity with the ESPM admin portal.

Context: ESPM supports smartcard authentication for both Managed Document Service (MDS) and non-MDS mode deployments. This feature offers a passwordless authentication method, utilizing the organization’s existing smartcards or badges for secure and seamless access.
Step 1: Navigate to the “MFD Network” menu (beneath the “Print Management” section)
Step 2: Click on “MFD List“
Step 3: Locate the MFD you want to enable smartcard authentication for
Step 4: In the “Actions” column of the selected MFD, click the gear icon
Step 5: Check the box labeled “SmartCard“
Step 6: Click “Save” to apply the changes
