How to print a document from an iOS mobile device

Mobile printing is commonly performed using a mobile device. This article provides a quick guide on how to print from your device to the ESPM cloud print queue.

Prerequisite understanding: To perform mobile printing, the user must have the ESPM cloud print profile configured on their device. If the profile is not installed or you’re unfamiliar with the setup process, please contact your ESPM administrator for assistance.

The following provides an abbreviated step-by-step guide on how to proceed:

Context: Users can select a file on their mobile device, choose the ESPM print queue as the destination printer, and securely send the file to the queue. These files can then be quickly and securely retrieved from the MFD.

Step 1: Locate the file stored locally on your iOS mobile device

Step 2: Tap the “Share” icon (formally known as the “Action” button) at the bottom of the page

Step 3: Tap “Print“

Step 4: Select your ESPM print queue by tapping the “Printer” field at the top

(Note: If this is not your first time printing to the ESPM print queue, this field may already be pre-populated, and you can skip this step.)

Step 5: Tap the “Print” button in the top-right corner

Step 6: Enter your ESPM credentials

(Note: If you have printed previously and authenticated from your device, you may not be prompted for authentication again, as your previous print token may still be valid. If so, you can skip this step and the one that follows.)

Step 7: Tap “OK“

Step 8: Tap “Done”

(Note: You won’t see a custom confirmation message due to the design of native iOS applicationless printing. However, you will receive notifications if you are not authorized to print to the queue or if your credentials are incorrect.

Done!

Recommendations: As a best practice for security and password management, users are encouraged to routinely log out of print sessions before print tokens automatically expire.
