Direct Printing Without Secure Print

There are scenarios in which an administrator may want to configure a Toshiba MFP to allow direct printing and “secure printing” is not enabled. This article will demonstrate how to accomplish this.

Prerequisite understanding: A general understanding of how to navigate the ESPM administration console is required.

The following steps provide an abbreviated step-by-step how to:

Context: The ESPM utilizes a provisioning process that is based on the application of an “MFD”. Specifically, when a discovered devices is flagged with “Is an MFD”, various provisioning features and services can be associated with the device. One of those services include, secure printing. The administrator may want to understand how to utilize basic print functionalities that exclude processes such as secure printing.

Direct Printing (without secure print enabled) | Provisioned MFD

Step 1: Launch the ESPM administrative console, then navigate to >> MFD Network >> MFD List >> Edit MFD >> Adv. Config.

Step 2: Confirm that “Secure Print Release” is set to “Exclude” (if not, set it). 

Step 3: Launch the Toshiba “Top Access” administrative console.

Step 4: From Top Access, navigate to >> Administration >> Setup >> Printer.

Step 5: From the printer menu, set “Restriction for Print Job” to “None”.

Step 6: Click “Save“.

Direct Printing (without secure print enabled) | Non-Provisioned MFD

Step 1: Launch the ESPM administrative console, then navigate to >> MFD Network >> MFD List >> Edit MFD

Step 2: Uncheck “Is an MFD”

Step 3: Click “Update Printer” (Note: This will allow jobs to be tracked in the Activity Log).
