PROTOCOL SETTINGS

"TCP/IP" Tab

To use the machine on a TCP/IP network, this setting must be enabled.
When settings are changed, the changes will take effect after the machine is restarted. To restart the machine, see "TURNING ON OR OFF THE POWER AND RESTARTING THE MACHINE".

IPv4 Settings

When using the machine on a TCP/IP (IPv4) network, use this setting to configure the IP address of the machine.
DHCP/BOOTP
Use this setting to have the IP address obtained automatically using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)/BOOTP (Bootstrap Protocol). When this setting is enabled, it is not necessary to manually enter an IP address.
If the machine is used on a TCP/IP network, be sure to enable the "TCP/IP".
If DHCP/BOOTP is used, the IP address assigned to the machine may change automatically. If the IP address changes, printing will not be possible.
RARP
Set this option to use the RARP protocol.
IPv4 Address
Enter the IP address of the machine.
Subnet Mask
Enter the IP subnet mask.
Default Gateway
Enter the default gateway address.

IPv6 Settings

When using the machine on a TCP/IP (IPv6) network, use this setting to configure the IP address of the machine.
IPv6
Enable this setting.
DHCPv6
Use this setting to have the IP address obtained automatically using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) v6. When this setting is enabled, it is not necessary to manually enter an IP address.
Manual Address/Prefix Length
Enter the IP address and the prefix length (0 to 128) of the machine.
Default Gateway
Enter the default gateway address.
  • If the machine is used on a TCP/IP network, be sure to enable the "TCP/IP" below.
  • In an IPv6 environment, the machine can use LPD or IPP protocol.
  • If DHCPv6 is used, the IP address assigned to the machine may change automatically. If the IP address changes, printing will not be possible.

Ping Command

Checks if the machine can communicate with the PC of the network.
Specify the IP address of the desired PC and tap the [Execute] key. A message indicating a response by the PC or not is displayed.

"NetWare" Tab

When settings are changed, the changes will take effect after the machine is restarted. To restart the machine, see "TURNING ON OR OFF THE POWER AND RESTARTING THE MACHINE".

NetWare Settings

NetWare
To use the machine on a NetWare network, this setting must be enabled.
Frame Type
Select a frame type.
Settings: 802.2, 802.3, SNAP, ETHER-II
Operation Mode
Select an operation mode.
Settings: PSERVER, RPRINTER
Printer Name
Enter the printer name.

PSERVER Settings

Print Server Name
Enter a print server name.
Login Password
Enter the login password.
To change the password, set [Change Password] to .
Check Interval
Enter a job check interval.
Bindery Mode
Set this option to use the Bindery mode.
File Server Name 1 to 8
Enter a file server name.
NDS Tree
Enter the NDS tree name.
NDS Context
Enter the NDS context.

RPRINTER Settings

Print Server Name 1 to 8
Enter a print server name.
Job Timeout
Enters a job timeout.

"EtherTalk" Tab

When settings are changed, the changes will take effect after the machine is restarted. To restart the machine, see "TURNING ON OR OFF THE POWER AND RESTARTING THE MACHINE".

EtherTalk Settings

EtherTalk
To use the machine on an EtherTalk network, this setting must be enabled.
Zone Name
Enter a zone name.
Printer Name
Enter the printer name.

"NetBIOS" Tab

When settings are changed, the changes will take effect after the machine is restarted. To restart the machine, see "TURNING ON OR OFF THE POWER AND RESTARTING THE MACHINE".

NetBIOS Settings
