“We are incredibly proud of these positive reviews from BLI, one of the industry’s most recognized independent test labs,” said Kay Fernandez, director, Product and Solutions Marketing for TABS. “The 4-Star rating is added confirmation that Toshiba is leading the pack in terms of developing innovative products that add value to our customers’ document production environment.”
High Praise for the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 Series
BLI awarded the e-STUDIO520, 600, 720 and 850 with the 4-Star designation “because of good overall productivity, as well as good overall ease of use and image quality.” Other features praised by BLI analysts included:
- The built-in e-BRIDGE controller, which makes upgrading to a connected device simple with minimal downtime;
- The large, easy-to-read and navigate control panel;
- The well designed print driver with text preview panel that displays detailed job settings;
- A PM schedule and toner yield that are among the highest in the industry for similarly equipped available models, leading to less service and user intervention; and
- One of the highest finishing output capacities in the industry, including a stapling capacity of 100 sheets.
e-STUDIO281c/351c/451c Series Earns Accolades from BLI
The e-STUDIO281c, 351c and 451c also were praised by BLI analysts, receiving the 4-Star award as a result of “good overall ease of use, black copy productivity, black print productivity and color print productivity.” The series’ many advantages touted by BLI included:
- Good overall ease of use from the control panel, including large, easy to read buttons;
- Built-in e-BRIDGE technology, which uses a single system board for processing and storage of all imaging functions;

About the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 Series
TABS began shipping the highly acclaimed e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series on June 1, 2005, marking the launch of one of the industry’s most secure MFP series. The models offer 1,000 Department Codes to prevent unauthorized access and accurately track system usage. Ten thousand User Codes take access control a step further by enabling role-based usage, allowing administrators to put limits on a particular function’s use or even lock out functions at an individual user level.
The Disk Overwrite option available for the e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series helps ensure document confidentiality by writing over any temporary data stored on the system’s hard disk drive (HDD) multiple times immediately after the system is done using it to process a document. In fact, the Disk Overwrite kit exceeds the Department of Defense standards for data protection. The Scrambler Board option further encrypts all data written to the HDD utilizing 128-bit encryption, rendering any data on it virtually useless if separated from the system.
The e-STUDIO520/600/720/850 series also boasts exceptional 2,400 x 600 dpi image quality, print speeds of 52, 60, 72 and 85 pages-per-minute (PPM) respectively, and high performance paper handling features, making it ideal for Departmental Office settings, Central Reprographics Departments (CRDs) and Print On Demand (POD) environments.
About the e-STUDIO281c/351c/451c Series
Launched in August of 2005, the e-STUDIO281c/351c/451c series offers the same running cost, performance and functionality as black and white MFPs, with the added feature of color at an affordable price. Crisp, clear black-and-white images are outputted at rates of 28, 35 and 45 PPM respectively, at an impressive 2400 x 600 dpi resolution. All three models produce color documents at a rate of 11 PPM, with a resolution of up to 1200 x 600 dpi.
The series features a quick first copy out time (FCOT) of 6.8 seconds for black and white and 16.2 seconds for color, and also features a brief 40-second warm up time, one of the fastest warm up times among color MFP products in its class.
The e-STUDIO281c/351c/451c series utilizes Toshiba’s next generation e-BRIDGE architecture, a single-board technology platform for processing and integrating the separate architectures that enable copying, printing, scanning, faxing and other networking capabilities into one. All this is done by way of a powerful 600 MHz processor. For complete ease of use, features can be conveniently managed at the MFP with a large, tilting LCD control panel, or can be managed via the PC using the TopAccess remote device management utility.
