Installing the EFI Driver Supporting Windows 8 and Server 2012

This driver ONLY supports Windows 8, 8.1, Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2. The driver installation instructions say to remove the previous driver. The combination of these two requirements make this driver unsuitable for a print server installation where the print server is also supporting earlier versions of Windows (Windows 7 and earlier).

Since most print servers will continue to be supporting Windows 7 and earlier hosts, in most cases you will want to install this Windows 8 driver locally on the client

Installation Steps

  1. Delete the printer driver in the previous version using Fiery_Printer_Delete_Utility provided by a User Software DVD.
  2. After deleting it, reboot a client PC.
  3. Download the linked file to a local directory and unzip the downloaded file
  4. Double-click the prntdrv.exe to start decompression of the driver package. Specify the directory for storing the driver package. The fuld driver package will be decompressed under the directory you specify.
  5. Add a printer driver with "Add Printer".
  6. At this time, specify the directory in which the driver package was stored. You will need to browse down through the "English", down to the directory where the actual driver is located
  7. Follow the procedures on the screen to complete the installation.
