Supply & Demand Chain Executive celebrates Toshiba America Business Solutions‘ firm and continual commitment to a more sustainable planet by presenting the manufacturer its 2020 Green Supply Chain Award.

The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies that emphasize sustainability as a core element of their supply chain strategy while working to achieve measurable sustainability goals internally and within their customers’ operations and supply chains.  Supply & Demand Chain Executive is the sole magazine covering the entire global supply chain market.

“This year’s 13th-annual award recognizes small, mid-size and large enterprises that leveraged green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain,” says Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “From software solutions to transportation management systems to several other initiatives designed to reduce carbon footprint and improve the re-use of materials, sustainability continues to rank as a key component to a stronger, safer and more efficient supply chain.”

Toshiba measures the sustainability success of its supply chain program against key metrics of the company’s latest environmental action plan.  The global plan is graded upon favorable results within the areas of green management, greening of products and greening of process, and Toshiba has tracked significant progress toward its achievements.

Toshiba’s Global Sustainability Achievements

  • Cut chemical substance emissions by 10 tons.
  • Reduced overall water usage by 490 tons.
  • Recycled 980 tons of water.
  • Reduced CO2 emissions by 16,100 tons.
  • Recycled 579 tons of plastics.
  • Customer savings from product usage resulting in a 56.78 million reduction in kilowatts and 1,493 tons of paper.

“Sustainability and environmental consciousness are signature values of Toshiba,” said R. Steven Tungate, vice president, general manager, supply chain management, service and innovation at Toshiba America Business Solutions.  “Operating in this manner – throughout North and South America, and globally – is embedded in our culture.  The Toshiba team equally celebrates helping our clients meet sustainability objectives across their organizations.”
